How to Measure for Your Belt

Takes less than 2 minutes. Get it right the first time.

The Right Way

Measure an Existing Belt — It's the Most Accurate

Guessing from your pants size is the most common mistake. Here's how to get it right.

1 Method 1: Measure Your Current Belt Recommended

  1. Grab a belt that fits you well — the one you wear most often at the right hole.
  2. Lay it flat on a table.
  3. Measure from the fold end (the crease where the buckle attaches, not the tip of the tongue) to the hole you actually use.
  4. That number in inches is your belt size. Write it down and put it in your order form.
Example: You measure 36 inches from fold to your favorite hole — order a size 36. Sireena will punch 5 holes centered at 36" so you have room to adjust.

2 Method 2: Measure Your Waist Directly

  1. Put on the pants you plan to wear the belt with.
  2. Use a soft tape measure (or a string + ruler) around your waist at the level of your belt loops.
  3. Measure snugly but not tight — how your belt actually sits.
  4. Add 1–2 inches to that number. That's the belt size to order.
Example: Waist measures 34" in your jeans → order a size 36.

Common Questions

Sizing FAQ

Is belt size the same as pants size? +

Not always. Belt sizes often run 2” larger than your pants waist — but this varies by brand and body shape. The safest approach is always measuring an existing belt at the hole you use.

What if I'm between sizes? +

Every Bearly Western belt comes with 5 holes punched 1” apart, centered on your requested size. That gives you 2 full inches of adjustment on either side. Being between sizes is not a problem.

Do you make belts in large/plus sizes? +

Yes — every belt is made to your measurement. There's no standard size list. If you need a 50” or 60” belt, just say so in your order form. Same price, same quality.

How do I measure for a kids' belt? +

Same method — measure an existing kids' belt from the buckle fold to the hole they use. If they don't have a belt yet, measure their waist through the pant loops and that's your starting number.

Still not sure? Just ask. +

Send your order in and describe what you have — Sireena will ask the right questions before she cuts a single piece of leather. No order starts until the size is confirmed.
